“Nothing To Be Sorry About”
Positive About Down Syndrome’s founder, Nicola Enoch, recently had the honour of being invited to speak at TEDx Leamington Spa.
We are delighted to share this emotional, hard hitting, brutally honest, no-holds-barred talk and would ask if you’re inspired to please share.
I knew that we would consider termination, after all isn’t that why we screen and what everybody does? How many women every day are making life/death decisions without understanding the reality of Down syndrome in modern Britain?
I know now how desperately ignorant I was and I want medical professionals, and indeed you, to know that there’s nothing to be sorry about, that having a baby with an extra chromosome is not the end of the world, but rather the start of an amazing journey.
Do please make yourself a cuppa/pour a drink and you’ll soon see why Nicola was motivated to create Positive About Down Syndrome and why she and other parents campaign tirelessly to ensure people understand the reality of modern life with Down syndrome.
Have tissues to hand and be prepared for a roller-coaster of emotions.
